Defining Alert Delivery Rules

The Alert Delivery Rules tab is used to tailor event notifications to suit your needs. All notification rules are assigned a severity and delivery method by default. However, you can reset any of the rules to change their severity, to change how they are logged, or to change the way you are notified about the event. Defining Rules
</h3>

The Define Rules panel is used to set the severity of each event and to define the delivery method for each type of severity. To change an event's severity from the default, follow these steps.

<a name="wp420377"> </a><div class="pSmartList1"><li>Select and highlight the event in the list that you want to change.</li></div>
<a name="wp420383"> </a><div class="pSmartList1"><li>Select a new severity level from the <b class="cBold">Severity</b> drop-down list, and click <b class="cBold">Close</b> when you are finished making the changes.</li></div>

Additionally, you can set the delivery method on each severity level. To change the delivery method, follow these steps.

<a name="wp420594"> </a><div class="pSmartList1"><li>Check or uncheck the delivery methods to add or to remove them from that severity type based on where you want the information sent. Delivery methods are explained in the following table.</li></div>

Defining Exceptions
</h3>

Use the Define Exceptions panel to override global delivery settings on selected events. For example, you might have all warnings being written to the MegaRAID Storage Manager log and system log but not delivered to you by email. Suppose there is one event that you would prefer to receive also by email. Rather than reset <em class="cEmphasis">all</em> warnings to be delivered by email, you can set an override on just one event to include email as a delivery method.

To define exceptions on events, follow these steps.

<a name="wp420994"> </a><div class="pSmartList1"><li>Select and highlight the event in the list that you want to change.</li></div>
<a name="wp421003"> </a><div class="pSmartList1"><li>Check or uncheck delivery methods depending on how you want the event delivered, and click <b class="cBold">Add</b> to save your changes.</li></div>

The event that you changed is added to the Define Exceptions dialog. To edit items already in the Define Exceptions panel, click the <b class="cBold">Remove</b> or <b class="cBold">Edit</b> button:
